Sustainable Community Energy Networks
Transforming ten schools in Nairobi's informal settlements into Community Energy Hubs, placing curriculum, pedagogy, and classroom practice at the heart of clean-energy education.
Schools into Community Energy Hubs
Transforming ten schools within informal settlements into Community Energy Hubs (CEHs) through innovate and sustainable business models.
This model supports inclusive energy to ensure that no one is left behind and offers services like clean cooking and access to more energy to support with digital literacy.

Our Role in the Project
We lead the education component โ three interconnected dimensions that ensure investments in energy infrastructure lead to lasting, meaningful learning.
Translating Kenya's CBE national requirements into practical, inquiry-based classroom activities by making energy and sustainability the entry point for science, maths, and technology.
We map curriculum requirements to real-world energy contexts that students can touch, test, and investigate.
Building teacher capacity to deliver learner-centred, inquiry-based STEM education by shifting classrooms from rote recall to hands-on exploration, questioning, and discovery.
Professional development sessions, coaching, and peer learning circles are woven into our delivery model.
Aligning day-to-day teaching with the project's wider energy goals by designing high-impact lessons that work beautifully even in low-resource settings.
We ensure every lesson is practical, standards-aligned, and can be sustained without expensive materials.
How we work
- CBE curriculum mapping and lesson design
- Teacher capacity building
- Linking energy infrastructure to learning
Our commitments
- Sustained impact in low-resource settings
- Alignment with the CBC curriculum
- Practical, high-impact teaching approaches
Equipping the teachers
See how we support teachers in preparing to maximise the energy generated in Community Energy Hubs, enabling them to deliver lessons that are engaging, practical, and, where possible, digitally enhanced, while aligning with CBC expectations.
